FAQ

When you sell your phone to The Phone Lab we recycle it. But ‘recycling’ can be different depending on both the type of phone and the condition it’s in when you sell it to us. If your phone is still in good working order, we’ll probably just give it a bit of a polish and refresh and then find a new home for it. 90% of the phones we buy stay in the country as second-hand devices. Some handsets will go overseas to be resold and a few remaining phones will be broken down into parts and safely disposed of if needs be.

Recycling your phone is a big step to improving your green credentials. Modern smartphones are full of precious metals and materials. These materials can have a negative impact on the environment if they end up in landfills, as they can produce toxic chemicals that may seep into the soil or water. If this happens it can have an adverse effect on the food chain, or have harmful effects on humans and animals alike.

Selling your mobile phone to The Phone Lab is a hassle-free and rewarding experience. We offer competitive prices for your used devices through a transparent evaluation process, ensuring you get the best value for your phone. With our commitment to fair practices and customer satisfaction, you can trust us to make the selling process smooth and straightforward. Plus, by choosing us, you're contributing to a sustainable cycle of tech reuse and recycling.

Absolutely! You can sell your broken phone to The Phone Lab for cash the same way you sell us another old phone. We accept mobile phones with broken screens, batteries and ones that don’t power on. Obviously it may affect how much we can pay you, but we’re still happy to help you recycle your broken phone.

The amount you get for your device will depend on the model and the condition of the device. For example, a brand new Apple iPhone or the latest Samsung Galaxy will fetch significantly more than a 5 year old iPhone with a cracked screen, for instance. When we are looking at the condition of your device, it falls into five categories: Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor and Faulty.
